Careers in Biology

Careers in the biological sciences can span a wide variety of areas. From health care, to ecology, to bioengineering, and beyond, the options are varied.

​Here, you can find suggestions of databases to search, and suggestions of key words to use in your searches.

MyBlueprint.ca - Go to myBlueprint.ca/sd73. In the "Work" tab, click on "Occupations" and use biology search terms to find careers in the biological sciences.

Gale - taking you directly to the Gale in Context Science database.
EBSCO - a powerful database to search. This one can help a lot with search terms.
​CiteFast - a useful citation generation tool
Piktochart - a popular infographic creation tool
Canva - another infographic tool
Lucidpress - you can also create an infographic here. Use your GEDU account, and link it to your Google drive.

ALSO: if you find an article that is interesting to you, look at the authors and the institution with which they are associated. You can look at the institution, and possibly, reach out to the researcher to see what it might take to get into their field.
Example: Former Kamloopsian and TRU grad, Alex Parker, who works at the Universite de Montreal in Medical Genetics. See his TEDx talk about some of his work.

American Institute of Biological Sciences - This page takes you to a great overview of careers in biological sciences. This page will help with finding search terms to use as you search for more specific careers in the biological sciences.
