TNRD Library - has a wide selection of ebooks and audiobooks. See the links on this TNRL blog post to get a library card online and learn a little more about their digital collections and databases. Sync Audiobooks for Teens - is an annual program that provides two free audiobooks per week for 13 weeks over the spring/summer months. The program starts up again on April 30, 2020. OpenStax - free online textbooks. Project Gutenberg - Free ebooks. Most are older, with expired copyright. Try their Top 100 or in search, their popular books. Audible - Providing free audiobooks for children and young adults while schools are closed. OBOOKO - free ebooks for download National Emergency Library - to support remote teaching and learning while libraries are closed. World Book - eBooks have been made available for free. Use the school login to access. (Miss R can email you the login if you wish.) Knowbuddy - ebooks have been made availalble for free. Series for grade 8 include: Disasters for All Time, Down in the Ocean, Enduring Mysteries, Living Wild, The NBA: A History of Hoops, Odysseys in Crime Scene Science, Odysseys in Extreme Sports, Odysseys in Government, Odysseys in Outdoor Adventures, Peoples of North America, and U.S. Special Forces. (It doesn't look like you need a password.) 45 places you can download tens of thousands books, plays, and other literary texts completely legally for free - article with links to sites with free books. |
WellnessKids Help Phone - call (1-800-668-6868), chat, or text. 24/7 professional counselling, information and referrals. Completely confidential, you don't have to share your name if you don't want to.

Reading for Stress Relief - article from the University of Minnesota Tech Tools & Suggested Free ResourcesScholastic Go - a search engine/digital database with articles and videos. Articles can be adjusted for reading level. From Scholastic, with Grollier online content.
Zoom - app for meeting online. Video, audio, screen sharing. Here is a document to help you join a meeting. Screencastify - allows you to create videos of your computer desktop, while recording your voice at the same time. It dovetails with google drive, and can save directly into a screencastify folder in your drive - use your gedu account to create an account. When you create your account, choose premium; there is an option to redeem code. Select the option and enter CAST_COVID to get premium for free for one year. Online Voice Recorder - a free application that allows you to record your voice. Files can be downloaded and saved where you choose. |

Keep Learning - BC Ministry of Education Open Learning page to help continue learning from home. Curricular Videos - these videos are usually used by teachers of online courses in BC. Many are produced with the BC curriculum in mind. Search the WCLN YouTube channel for video that connects with your coursework. Amazing Educational Resources - a website curating educational resources that are being offered for free. Peer Tutoring Request Form - your wonderful peer tutors are offering to meet virtually to help you with your continued learning. Fill out the form to request their assistance.
